Learn how to add Family and Domestic Violence Leave into your MYOB softwareThe Australian Government has recently introduced paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave (FDVL) for all employees.
This will take effect for employers with:
- 15 or more employees on 1 February 2023 and
- less than 15 employees on 1 August 2023.
Important Family and Domestic Violence Leave Information
All employees are now entitled to 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave in a 12-month period. Employees are entitled to the full ten days upfront. It renews every year on each employee’s work anniversary. The leave does not accumulate from year to year if it isn’t used.
Important notes about payslips and Family and Domestic Violence Leave
Payslips must not mention family and domestic violence leave, including any leave taken or leave balances. This reduces the risk to an employee’s safety when accessing paid family and domestic violence leave.
Setting up family and domestic violence leave in MYOB Advanced Payroll
Setting up FDVL in MYOB Advanced Payroll involves updating your entitlement and pay items for these changes. You also need to add a balance from the first day of employment and stop the balance from carrying over from year to year.
Setting up family and domestic violence leave in MYOB Exo Employer Services.
Most FDVL setup will be done for you when you update to MYOB Exo Employer Services version 2022.03. These changes will take effect as soon as you update:
- The new leave type will be added to your system
- Your employees will be credited with their initial 10-day entitlement balance
- Your employees’ annual entitlements will be set up, with a fresh 10 days granted each year on the anniversary of their employment.
