Who is Eastern Plant Hire?
Founded in 1996, Eastern Plant Hire (EPH) has become one of Victoria’s largest plant hire businesses, operating in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. EPH provides a diverse selection of earth-moving equipment for building and civil construction jobs, big and small. Trading under the banner ‘The best service on earth’, EPH is committed to continuous improvement as a business. However, with 1200+ contractors and over 2000 pieces of equipment and trucks, EPH needed the right software to maintain a consistent service throughout their enormous operations
What catalysed the switch to MYOB Exo?
MYOB Exo stood out for its reporting abilities, essential for meeting EPH’s invoice financing needs, and scalability, to accommodate EPH’s growth. MYOB Exo also happened to fit the unique characteristics of back-to-back invoicing of plant and equipment brokerage. Because of the way that EPH conducted their hiring agreements, they needed to create two invoices for every transaction, a particular source of pain with the old system. MYOB Exo now automatically enters supplier invoices for each customer invoice, greatly decreasing data entry work.
Which changes followed the decision to implement MYOB Exo?
MYOB Exo was customised to fit the specific functionalities of EPH. This customisation enabled constant tracking of contractors’ public liability insurance and automated debt collection letter tasks that previously demanded manual input. Thanks to MYOB Exo’s Structured Query Language (SQL), EPH could scale up or extend their system with additional integration and customisation. MYOB Exo’s user interface and automated report writer facilitated the seamless integration of additional data. MYOB Exo Training was imperative to get the most out of their new system.
How are Eastern Plant Hire now?
MYOB Exo streamlined many of EPH’s systems, making processes increasingly efficient. For instance, automatically generating a customer profile while simultaneously paying a subcontractor condensed a formerly two-step process into one swift action. This is a huge time saver for EPH as they process over 5,000 subcontractor dockets a month. EPH also found that MYOB Exo has greatly improved their workflow by creating custom reports and increasing visibility across their organisation. With this software in place, EPH now has a flexible system that can scale as they grow.
