Edcon Steel

Edcon went from making decisions in the dark to becoming a fully informed and forward-facing organisation.

For Edcon Steel, MYOB Exo’s positive point of difference was its ability to be customised to their unique requirements. It also provided a central, integrated view of the organisation with real-time information for key decision makers.

Who is Edcon Steel?

Edcon Steel is one of the largest structural steel fabricators and steel merchants in NSW. They provide steel solutions for marine, construction, and engineering industries. With five stores and a production capacity of several hundred tonnes, Edcon’s customers range from home and small trade buyers to some of Sydney’s largest construction companies.

What catalysed the switch to MYOB Exo?

For over 7 years, Edcon had run MYOB Premier as a POS system. The system became limiting as the business grew; processing hundreds of transactions a day between four stores put a lot of strain on Premier. Edcon required a management solution that was capable of providing real-time information on their sales order process. Their existing sales order system relied heavily on operator input at every stage of the sales order process. This led to unnecessary repetition and manual data entry that slowed down sales processes. Working closely with Kilimanjaro Consulting as their implementer of choice, they discovered the system that met their requirements was MYOB Exo.

Edcon Steel’s Trusted Implementation partner

Kilimanjaro Consulting is ANZ’s largest, most experienced, and most skilled team. When Edcon Steel decided to implement MYOB Exo, they chose Kilimanjaro Consulting as their partner of choice. We worked to understand Edcon Steel’s workflows and customise the software to meet their specific needs.   We follow a structured implementation methodology, and combined with the skills, knowledge and support of our team; we are able to guide you through the implementation process. At Kilimanjaro Consulting, we pride ourselves on being technology Sherpas, focused on building long-term relationships with clients and maintaining that partnership as their business grows. We take pride in Edcon Steel’s success and look forward to our continued partnership.

What changes followed the decision?

The configurability of the MYOB Exo Business modules sealed the deal for Edcon Steel. The Kilimanjaro Consulting team understood that Edcon’s business processes needed to be incorporated into MYOB Exo. The implementation has led to improvement in efficiencies and a decrease in errors. Customisation of the software allowed directors to have a succinct, direct overview of the entire business with management reports that update every 15 minutes, improving business intelligence. The real-time centralised system enabled Edcon to keep track of any bad debt which they had previously struggled with. They are now able to look at reports for each store at the end of the day and see exactly what the company is owed, which customers aren’t paying and take appropriate immediate action.

How are they now?

MYOB Exo has provided peace of mind, having a system in place that records every part of the sales order process enables tremendous flexibility in managing their business. Not only has the software saved time but also money, but being able to set up supplier prices means operators at Edcon know at a glance how much the same item costs across a range of suppliers and can order accordingly. Every aspect of their business management has seen improvements and given decision-makers immediate access to business intelligence.
